Northeast Florida Women Veterans - is focused on ensuring women who are serving on active duty military, National Guard, or reserves, and their children, can transition into the civilian community with the tools they need to become self-sufficient. They operate a resource center to provide supportive and career services to women veterans. They also advocate for women veterans to promote community awareness of their challenges and accomplishments at the local, state and national level.
Operation New Uniform - This is a nonprofit organization, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. They are committed to the professional success of veterans after service, and ensuring their maximum success in the transition from military life to civilian business
K9s for Warriors - They are dedicated to providing service canines to our Warriors suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, and/or Military Sexual Trauma as a result of military service post-9/11, including Iraq and Afghanistan. Their goal is to empower them to return to civilian life with dignity and independence. They are the nation's largest provider of service dogs for disabled American veterans
Red Cross - is self explanatory but they do also provide some additional services for military veterans including Re-connection Workshops. Its also a great place to volunteer. Red Cross has been providing life-saving services since 1881.
Re-connection Workshop -
Small groups that are facilitated by licensed, trained Red Cross mental health professionals that help service members reconnect with their families and reintegrate into civilian life. The workshops are always confidential and completely free of charge.
Greater Jacksonville Area USO - Jacksonville has 3 local USO centers in Duval County (NAS JAX, Mayport, and Jacksonville International Airport), that has served our over 250,000+ military personnel by offering programs to support and improve their quality of life. They strive to create the "home away from home" environment that so many military members need. If you've served, you understand the importance of the USO to provide for the morale and welfare of our armed forces and their families.
Five Star Veteran Center - This a nonprofit organization that was founded in March 2012. They assist veterans that are in drastic need. They have a specific focus on veterans aged 22 - 55 suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Depression, Anxiety and other related mental health issues. Their mission is for each veteran to re-integrate into society with the least conflicts.
Onward to Opportunity Jacksonville - They were formerly known as the "Veteran Career Transition Program– at Tri-Base Jacksonville". They offer two career tracks: Information Technology and Business Management. If veterans are interested, the journey will begin with five days of face-to-face career development training and facilitation. Their classroom training includes the two-day Onward to Your Career course, two-days of Community Support briefs and mock interview sessions with local employer partners, and one-day of your industry foundations followed by the Employer Spotlight Lunch & Learns and a networking event. The classroom portion is also followed by 12-16 weeks of online coursework to earn an industry certification in the desired field.
The Mission Continues - They are a national, non-partisan, non-profit organization that empowers veterans to continue their service. They also want to empower communities with prepared veteran talent and skills to generate impact that is visible. Veterans possess the drive and desire to serve others by principle. However, without access to the tools they need, their potential to make meaningful impact at the local level remains untapped. This is sad when there are so many communities that could use their help. The great organization, "The Mission Continues", is on a mission to connect veterans with under-resourced communities. Their programs in cities across the country deploy veteran volunteers alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, increase access to parks and green spaces, foster neighborhood identity, and more. Wounded Warrior Project - They are a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that is headquartered in Jacksonville. Their mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors who incurred service-connected wounds, injuries and illnesses (physical or physiological), on or after September 11, 2001.
Task Force Hydro 1 - they are local veterans-focused non-profit . They work with veterans and first responders in helping them cope with PTSD, suicide, etc through hydrotherapy.
Irreverent Warriors - Their mission statement is: "We use humor and camaraderie to unite veterans, heal the mental wounds, address PTSD, and prevent veteran suicide, through therapeutic events."
